Just with every place there are always things you love and things you are not fond of. My memory is already bad so I thought I share some of my likes and dislikes.
The Best:
The sweet little girl, that we can not wait to be part of our family
The Good:
Our translator, she was AWESOME!!!
The Pizza
The Shopska Salad
The Chrsitmas lights in Sofia
Victoria Restraunt....NON SMOKING section (3 glorious tables)
The beautiful mountains in the orphanage home
The FREE Walking Tour of Sofia
The Hotel in Center City the second part of trip
The prices on food were GREAT
The walk to the top of the city in orphanage town
The weather was great for December, only a little snow 1 day
Watching another child leave the orphanage for the last time with his family
Discovery that they do have regular coffee in Bulgaria, sadly it was Thursday
Walking everywhere is great on the waistline
The Not so Good:
SMOKERS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!
The time difference
The long airplane rides with people wearing too much PERFUME
Expresso coffee
Bathrooms/Showers
Missed American Milk
Missed wearing my bright colored hoodies and sneakers
Overall the good outweighs the bad by a long shot!!!! For my first European experience I was pleased and enjoyed my time in Bulgaria.

We had the same reaction to the smokers! They are everywhere:( Hoping for a quick return!!
ReplyDeleteHey at least you didn't take the bus and have to use the squatty potty!!! HAHAHAHA!!! It isn't much more than a hole in the floor..... the name says it all... I think I can put that on my "dislike" list!! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh BTW the squatty potty is not ON the bus... it is the travel centers you pass where the buses stop... when I read my comment it gave me a vision of bumping along on the two lane road... eekkk... that was a stressful bus ride... a old woman almost stepped in front of the bus traveling at 60-70 miles an hour... he slammed on his breaks... needless to say I will never forget the look on her face because I was in the front seat....LOL! Phew...
ReplyDeleteAlways so interesting to visit your site. What a great info, thank you for sharing. this will help me so much in my learning.

Ditto on the smokers! Even the rooms in our hotel in Pleven where our son's orphanage was located were smoking. Ick! And, I agree with you on the pizza and the salads...yummy! We also found a wonderful pastry shop off Vitosha Blvd in Sofia.
